Happy All Saints' Day!

Happy All Saints' Day!

In other news, I know we've been really boring lately. With Jenn's news and my...well, I don't really have an excuse...I guess we've just been feeling uninspired. If anyone is curious about our experiences with "-----", feel free to send us an e-mail and we're happy to drum up some inexpert opinions.

I guess you'll just have to wait until one of us gets pregnant for things to be interesting here again.

  1. Hey, Beth! I am 10 weeks pregnant and very excited! I've been following your blog for awhile now because I would love to have a natural childbirth but I'm trying to keep an open mind. I was wondering at what point did you bring up pursuing natural labor and delivery with your doctor? I want to bring it up at the right time without being pushy about it. Thanks! ~Holly

  2. Holly - congratulations! I hope you're feeling good.

With my first pregnancy, we talked about it from the very beginning. Then, we continued to talk about birth in more detail when I started to go in for regular fetal NSTs in the third trimester.

Some doctors are harder to talk to than others, so if you feel like you got a dismissive answer or didn't get the information you wanted or needed, you can just bring it up again. For that reason, I would recommend earlier rather than later, so you have a couple of opportunities to ask your questions and get good answers. It's easier to part ways in the first trimester than it is in the second, and still easier in the second than in the third, so it's best to see whether you are a good fit with that doctor as soon as possible!

And don't think about yourself as being pushy. If they are going to do something to your body and your baby, they need to be able to justify it to you, rather than assuming your consent is given.
